Zachary Lyle Howze, a 2013 honors graduate from Franklin County High School, received his bachelor of science degree from Troy University on May 11.

Howze, of Apalachicola, received his degree in criminal justice and minored in homeland security. While at Troy University he was a member of Lamda Alpha Epsilon, a criminal justice fraternity and was on their shooting team. He also completed an internship program with the Troy Police Department under the supervision of Lead Investigator Michael O’Hara where he assisted with investigations in counterfeiting, robberies, and four homicides. In addition, Howze gained certification in emergency operations management and open water scuba so as to enhance his qualifications in the criminal justice field.

Howze graduated with an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.23, and a 3.51 in his major coursework. During the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year, he was named to the Chancellor's List, which honors full-time undergraduates who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.
