A convicted killer serving a life sentence for killing a man in 2009 is accused of fatally stabbing another inmate at the Bibb County Correctional Facility in Brent.

Keandre Derrod Houston, 29, is accused of using a makeshift knife to stab Jeveria Odess McCall, 35, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Houston shot and killed Gabriel Spencer, 21, at Boardwalk at Brittain Landing apartments during a robbery in 2009.

The stabbing at the prison happened in an inmate housing area around 5 p.m., according to ADOC. McCall, who was serving a 20-year sentence for a 2013 robbery in Montgomery County, was taken to a local hospital where he later died form his injuries.

Witnesses identified Houston as the suspect, according to the release.
