PANAMA CITY — The National Weather Service Tallahassee Office has issued a tornado watch for Bay County from 11 p.m. CDT Saturday night to 7 a.m. CDT Sunday morning.
A strong band of storms is expected to move through the area overnight with the potential to produce severe weather. The watch also includes DeFuniak Springs, Port St. Joe, and parts of Southern Alabama and Georgia. Parts of Alabama and Florida had already been under a previous tornado watch.
A tornado watch means a storm has the potential to produce a tornado. A tornado warning will be issued if rotation within the storm is spotted on radar.
Even if a tornado is not produced, these storms carry the potential for strong gusts,heavy rain and possibly hail.
