Pat Darrell Holmes, 60, of Carrabelle, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017.

He was born June 30, 1957 in Port St. Joe. He was a U.S. Army veteran, 1976-86, where he served in Germany and Korea. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon/Overseas Service Ribbon/Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon and Rifle Marksman. He worked as a cable supervisor technician with telecommunications. Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchild, but his family laughs, saying that he really loved his scooter.

He is survived by his wife Christine Holmes; eight children Patricia Holmes Larkin, Beverly Holmes, Virginia Messer (Astin), Tony Shiver (Lauren), Rachel Holmes, Misty Scheetz (Doug), Steven Shiver (Danielle) and Melissa Myers Macdonald (Mitchell); one sister Odie McCllintock (Earl); three brothers James Holmes (Rosemary), Bruce Holmes (Vicky) and Larry Holmes; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Predeceased by his parents James and Willie Holmes, sister Brenda Norris and two brothers Roy Holmes and Randall Holmes.

Family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Carrabelle First Assembly of God, and funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Ron Barks officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Carrabelle.
