Hello Franklin County!

If you are a local resident or a visitor that has never been to one of the Franklin County Libraries we invite you to stop in and see us. All residents with proof of residency can receive a free library card. The library offers free public computer access, copying (10 cents per page black and white), and fax service ($1 per page), and free scanning.

The 2017 Putt Masters Golf Tournament, a fundraiser of the Friends of Franklin County Public Library, was held Sept. 29 at The Red Pirate Grill and Oyster Bar in Eastpoint. What a great annual event that supports both county libraries, in Carrabelle and Eastpoint.

A great day of fun and it is an honor to announce this year’s winners. The first place trophy went to the Gym Rats (Fitness & Wellness Center); second place to Uta Hardy (Uta Hardy Real Estate Services); third to Manley’s Team (Glen Siler); and the Hole-in-One trophy went to Anna Carmichael. Way to go players!

Great appreciation goes to our host and sponsor, Red Pirate Grill and Oyster Bar, which supports the libraries throughout the year for multiple events and programs. Appreciation as well to sponsored teams: Dail’s Tails (Dail’s Seafood), Yoga Babes (Friday Morning Chair Yoga), Word Up (Elaine Rosenthal), Manley’s Team (Glen Siler), Pink Pirates (Pam Tullous/Maribeth Lowe), Homeschool Pirates (Colston/Kemp), Bogey Yogies (UMC Yoga class), Carra Rebeleans (Marian Morris/Kathleen Oman), and Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department Dragons (George Pruett).

Big thanks to hole sponsors and donors: SGI Volunteer Turtlers, Martha and Royce Hodge, Sanders & Duncan, Sea Oats Gallery, Fathom’s Steam Room, Dr. John and Sue Sink, Christie’s Cottage Living, Ada Long, Pat and Michael O’Connell, Rick Watson, Judy Little and Harvey and Mary Schoonmaker.

And the entire staff thanks the Friends of the Library for their hard work and dedication that makes these events successful. These events are great fun but they represent our purpose, to support and advocate for the citizens of Franklin County by providing additional tools for continuing education and literacy achievement.
