A 40-year-old Carrabelle woman was killed Saturday morning as she drove north on County Road 67 near Jeff Sanders Road.

According to the news release issue just before noon Saturday. Heather Keith was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger northbound around 6:48 a.m. when she veered off the roadway to the east. The vehicle rotated, due to oversteering, and crossed two lanes of traffic before exiting on the west side.

As it headed north, the vehicle’s right tires dug into the ground, and as it overturned, the driver’s side roof hit a tree.

“The driver suffered fatal injuries as a result of the impact. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene by Franklin County EMS,” read the release.

Assisting the Florida Highway Patrol on scene was the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Carrabelle Police Department, Carrabelle Volunteer Fire Department, and Lanark Village Volunteer Fire Department.
