The Lady Seahawk varsity girls golf team dropped two last week to Chiles, one of their chief adversaries in the area
On Sept. 26 at Tallahassee’s Killearn Country Club, the girls fell 191 to 215. The Lady Hawks edged out Maclay, and Community Christian in the four-team event.
Junior Melanie Collins led the team with 39, followed by junior Alexus Johnson with 45. Freshman Hollie Larkin shot 63, followed by Jaylin Charles 68, Emma Gragg 69 and Summer Cepull 70.
On Sept. 27 at home at St. James Bay, Franklin Couynty fell 203-211 to Chiles, but overran Community Christian by 41 strokes.
Collins led the team with 37, followed by a 48 by Johnson. Larkin shot 57, and Charles 69.
Collins has a 38 scoring average, and Johnson is consistently scoring in the 40s, said coach Scott Collins. Freshman, and returning starter, Larkin is usually scoring in the 50s.
”The trio have led the Lady Seahawks to a 14-3 record, and have the team in position for a fourth consecutive state playoff appearance,” said the coach. “All of them have improved and lowered their scoring average. We will need them at their best, and get some help from our new players if we are going to win a district title and get out of regionals.”
