James Edward “Jimmy” Trest passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Son of the late Leonard “Bud” Trest, and Carolyn Burns Trest, Jimmy is survived by his fiancée, Gloria, his mother, his sister, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jimmy is also survived by his three children, Jessica, Michael and Desiree, as well as his dogs, Jake and Baby Girl.
Born in Port St. Joe on July 18, 1963, he spent his life on the water and loved it well. Jimmy was known as a shrimper, crabber, and a fisherman. His other great love was cars, trucks, motorcycles - anything with an engine. He worked as a truck driver but secretly believed he was the next great NASCAR driver, and he was Jeff Gordon’s number one fan.
Jimmy never failed to make the whole room laugh, and wanted a smile on every face he encountered. He never met a dog he didn’t want to take home, sometimes known to treat the animals better than other people. He was a loving soul and a rolling stone. Life was one grand adventure after the other for this man, and he will be greatly missed by his family as we continue the journey without him.
