On Saturday, May 6 more than 70 artists vied for the Quickdraw prize for this year’s Forgotten Coast Plein Air Paint-Out.
The group was divided into professional and open categories; 37 artists competed in each group at the Quickdraw, held in Carrabelle at the Marine Street pavilion. Artists could choose from the streetscape, the working waterfront, or the business district.
The Quickdraw began at 10 a.m. and artists had until noon to complete their work. Professional judges and onlookers got to vote for their favorite piece.
The judges’ winners in the Open category, for anyone 14 and older, were First - Christy Aldredge; Second - Susan Waters; and Third - Kendall Portis, Third. People’s Choice went to Christa Friedl.
Winners in the Professional category were First - Debra Huse, Second - David Boyde, and Third - Vlad Yeiseyev, who also won for the People’s Choice.
Quickdraw winners and selected paintings from the event will be on display at Rio Carrabelle, at the corner of Marine Street and US 98, until Sunday, May 14.
