Charles Rush Gander, 73, passed away quietly at home on Friday, April 7, 2017.

Rush was a lifelong resident of Carrabelle, a town he loved with people he loved. He spent his adult life as owner and proprietor of Gander’s Hardware, a family business begun by his father and now carried on by his grandson, Cody Barber. Rush also was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Carrabelle.

Rush is survived by JoAnn Bailey Gander, his wife of 50 years; two daughters, Donna Barber (Brent), of Carrabelle, and Deborah Gander of Miami; three grandsons, Cody Barber (Darla), Caden Barber (Tiffany), and Cale Barber, all of Carrabelle; two granddaughters, Sophie Gander, of Miami, and Stephanie Gragg (Chris), of Carrabelle; and nine great-grandchildren, all of Carrabelle.

He is also survived by one brother, Vic Gander (Erna), of Carrabelle, one sister, Mary Ann Harrelson (Jerry), of Inverness, and one sister-in-law, Babs Bailey, of Carrabelle.

Services were held on Sunday, April 9 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Carrabelle, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
