Ernest “Scott” Washington, Sr. 86, resident of Oxon Hill, Maryland, by way of Port St. Joe, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. He was born March 8, 1931, in Bristol.
Mr. Washington was a “mighty giant” with so much wisdom and so eager to share. Mr. Washington was employed by the Gulf County Florida School Board as a social studies teacher at Port St. Joe High School 1985-1987. He was sponsor of the National Junior BETA Club, the goal of the club to encourage effort, reward merit and promote qualities of character that make for good citizenship.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 23 at noon at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, Maryland. Mr. Washington will lie in state at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon for viewing prior to service.
Interment will be Monday, March 27 with military honors. Mr. Washington’s body will be laid at its final resting place in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy., Cheltenham, Maryland.
