Join Rick La Fleur for an encode presentation of "Ubi Fera Sunt," his bravura translation of Maurice Sunday's children's classic "Where the Wild Things Are" from 1 to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 18 at Downtown Books.
La Fleur, University of Georgia Franklin Professor of Classics, Emeritus, and author of the Times column "The Secret Life of Words," divides his time between Georgia and Apalachicola. His faithful rendering of Sendak's text, complete with the English edition's iconic illustrations, comes with a cheat sheet and La Fleur's handwritten exhortation (in Latin) to let the wild rumpus begin!
Last year, Downtown Books sold out to an overflow crowd. Ipsa ("Herself"), the French bulldog, will make a special guest appearance.
