Franklin County Sgt. Jason Register avoided serious injury early Tuesday morning after he was involved in a single car crash following the midnight swearing in ceremony at the First United Methodist Church. Register was treated at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf in Port St. Joe and is now recovering.

Sheriff A.J. Smith, who visited Register later that morning, reported on Facebook that “he’s bruised and shaken with no serious injuries. His bulletproof vest, air bags and seat belt kept him from serious injury. Heavy rain contributed to the crash. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”
