Gerald D. Mitchell, 65, of Apalachicola, departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 at the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.

He was born August, 27, 1951 in Apalachicola to the late George and Jessie Mae Mitchell. He was educated at Quinn High School and he attended Job Corps in Nevada. He was employed by the city of Apalachicola for many years. At an early age he was baptized at St/ Paul A.M.E. Church in Apalachicola.

Gerald leaves behind to cherish his loving memories two sisters; Charlie Mae Richards (James), of Apalachicola, and Sherry Ricketts (Allen), of Tallahassee; three; brothers: Jimmie Lee Rochelle (Mary Lee), of Apalachicola, George W. Mitchell Jr. (Lorraine), of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Wallace D. Mitchell, of Apalachicola; a special aunt: Iristine Bouie; a special uncle: Henry Rochelle, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service was Saturday morning, Nov. 26 at New Life Tabernacle by the Sea First Born Church, Elder Wayne Salter delivered the eulogy. Serving as pallbearers were Albert Floyd, Sherman Thomas, Perry Floyd, Flenard Rhodes, Dexter Harris, Noah Lockley and Calvin Harris.

Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery.
