Okay guys and dolls, start thinking about your Halloween costume and come on down to Chillas Hall, Saturday, Oct. 29. Door will open at 7 p.m. and Kreg and Krewe will be on hand to play the music.
Back in the early days, in October we would enjoy a great German meal prepared and served by the late Bob Wolher, “Bongo Bob” as he was known, along with his longtime friend Diane Hubanks. The hall at the Legion would be SRO. Standing room only.
Our faithful volunteers at the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center this afternoon will prepare and serve smoked pork loin, potato salad, baked beans, garlic bread tea or coffee and dessert. Lunch is being sponsored by Heather Crum Riley, who is seeking the position of supervisor of elections. Empty stomachs will line up at noon. See ya there! Thanks Heather for the breakfast at Chillas Hall last Saturday.
This Saturday, Oct. 8 will be a full day. We will start with the Fall Festival at the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. Things will get moving at 10 a.m. and go until 3 p.m.
Then we can all come over to Chillas Hall and meet with Frank Stephens from 4 to 6 p.m. Frank is a candidate for superintendent of schools. He would like to meet you so come on down and say hello.
Of course you know where to be on Saturday, Oct, 15. That’s right, at the Lanark Village Boat Club enjoying a full breakfast and chatting with your friends and neighbors. The door at the clubhouse will open at 9 a.m. and will close at 11 a.m. A donation of $5 will be collected inside the clubhouse. See ya there!
This just in. Sunday, Oct. 23, our friend and neighbor Nola Tolbert will host an ice cream social for Marcia Johnson and Traci Moses, at Chillas Hall, beginning at 3 p.m. Johnson is seeking reelection for clerk of the court and Moses is running for the superintendent of schools. Be watchin’ for you.
Be kind to one another, check in on the sick and housebound, and remember, volunteers make it happen. Become one today.
Until next time, God bless America and our troops, the poor, homeless and hungry.
