The Rev. O.H. Walker stopped by the Times office last week to share a rare photograph from what appears to be around the turn-of-the-century, and see if anyone might know more about who is pictured in it. Walker, who resides at 116 Dr. Frederick Humphries Street (formerly Seventh Street), said he found the photo in his house, where he has lived for the past 25 years.
He said the previous owner in the house, which was at one time used as a barber shop, was Jeannette Frye, who lived there until the late 1980s, when she moved to New Jersey. Walker said a brick mason named James Nelson may have resided there, as well as a woman with the first name of Estelle.
On the back of the photograph is found, written in pencil, the words Mrs. J.H. Walker, and the address 131 Avenue F (of perhaps J), Apalachicola. Beneath that is written what appears to be the words “Between 11th” and then the letter J.
