Deena Adlerstein (Weiss-Dennis), 62, of Aventura, passed away suddenly on Sept. 12, 2013.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she grew up in Buffalo, New York and Columbus, Ohio, where she was active in the Bnai Brith Girls.
Deena was educated at The Ohio State University and Barry University, where she earned her master’s degree in social work. She was a devoted social worker, beloved by her clients and co-workers, and a loving mother, sister and aunt. She is dearly missed.
She is survived by father, Hersh Adlerstein, of Aventura; sister and brother-in-law Naomi and Greg Siegler, of North Miami, and their children Saroj (Sean) Quinn, of Hong Kong, and Max Siegler, of New York City; sister Judith Adlerstein, of New York City; brother David Adlerstein, of Apalachicola; and daughter Jennifer Dennis and father Robert Dennis, both of Aventura.
She is also survived by cousins Lori Janow, Marsha Sertomme, Lois Ballard, Rosalee Ash, Alan Weiss and Julie Weiss; and aunts Miriam Adlerstein and Riva Weiss.
Deena was preceded in death by her mother Rhoda Adlerstein.
Services were Monday morning, Sept. 16 at Levitt-Weinstein Chapel, North Miami Beach, with Rabbi Alan Litwak officiating. Interment was at Lakeside Memorial Park, in Doral.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Deena’s memory be made to a charity close to the giver’s heart.
