Bernice Bennett Weaver

Bernice Alma Bennett Weaver was born Jan. 1, 1939 to the late Oscar and Annie Bennett. She passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee.

She received her early education from Wallace Quinn High School. She worked many years in the seafood industry at Sea Sweet Seafood and Tucker Seafood. Until her health failed, she was an active member of the New Life First Born Church under the leadership of Bishop Horace Solomon.

She was married to the late Willie Weaver, Sr. She was preceded in death by two daughters and two sons: Wanda Jean, Barbara Ann, Frederick and Willie, Jr.

A Celebration of Life service was held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8 at New Life First Born Church, with Bishop Horace Solomon officiating.

She leaves to mourn her death and loving memories to her children, James M. Bennett, of Louisiana, Anthony E. Weaver (Valerie), of Atlanta, Ga., Patricia Weaver Lane, of Apalachicola, and Wendell W. Weaver (Katherine), of Daytona Beach; and one sister, Eula Rochelle, of Apalachicola.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five godchildren, Ed Nelson, Jamie Wallace, Juan Jones, Sherman Siples, Jr., and Amani Jones; two special cousins, Noah Lockley, Sr., and family, and Louise Davis and family; and special friends, Ms. Shirley Jones, Nancy West, Marion Green, Yvonne Tolliver, Frances Simmons, Pearl Perry, Jessie Harris, Dry Bone Ministries, Clarence Williams, Jr., and Nancy Sewell.
