Annie Mae Braxton Flowers

Annie Mae Flowers was born at home on Nov. 15, 1934 in Washington County, and moved to Eastpoint at the age of 17.  She graduated from Carrabelle High School and married Bruford Flowers on July 19, 1953.

Annie Mae passed away in Panama City on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter B. and Scarlet Morris Braxton and a brother, Willie "Dobber" Braxton.

She is survived by her husband, Bruford, as well as brothers, Buford "Dink" Braxton (Carol), William "Buddy" Braxton (Betty Ann), and Bobbie J. Braxton.

Her family, all of Franklin County, include Dennis Flowers (Beverly), Debbie Flowers, Deedre Golden (Charles), and Jimmy and Pat McWhinnie.  Her grandchildren are Justin Golden (Crystal), Allen Flowers (Jackie) and Cilia Golden.  Her great-grandchildren are Jaden and Cameron Golden, Shelby and Emily Flowers, and Jayce Carden.

Annie Mae was a resident of Eastpoint for more than 61 years.  In addition to being a homemaker, she was a long-time employee at the Apalachicola State Bank. She and Bruford were the proprietors of the Red and White Food Store, and she was a partner at Flowers' Seafood.

Mrs. Flowers was member of the Eastpoint Church of God, the Woodmen of the World, and the Daughters of the Eastern Star.
