This Wednesday a rare day to marry

There’s an opportunity out there that won’t come around again for another century and that is the opportunity to get married on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 (12/12/12).

Clerk of Court Marcia Johnson is inviting couples to celebrate this special day by exchanging vows that day at Franklin County’s beautiful courthouse.

Ceremonies can be held between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the courthouse in Apalachicola, and couples are asked to pre-register at 653-8861 ext. 103.

Couples who want to get married on 12/12/12 must have a valid Florida marriage license and pay an additional $30 ceremony fee. The cost for a license is $93.50; however, couples who have attended an approved premarital class pay only $61. Remember too, that unless the couple has attended an approved premarital class, there is a three-day waiting period before the license is effective and the marriage can take place. There is no waiting period for out-of-state residents.
