Ed and Janette Pooser mark 70th wedding anniversary
Ed and Janette Pooser renewed their marriage vows in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary at the First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden, where they now reside. They were joined by more than 100 family members and friends from all over the country.
The couple was married on Nov. 23, 1938 in Clearwater, on Mr. Pooser's 22nd birthday.
Mrs. Pooser, 89, was born in Apalachicola to the late James A. and Grace Hathcock Jenkins. Mr. Pooser, 92, was born in Wauchula and is the nephew of the late W. W. "Billy" Pooser who owned Pooser's Drug Store in the 1920s and 30s, in downtown Apalachicola where the Apalachicola State Bank is now located.
Children who attended included sons Ned Pooser, of Franklin County, and Jim Pooser, of Tallahassee; and daughter Jenny Brown, of Winter Garden. Grandchildren included Ted, David and Daniel Pooser, of Tallahassee, John Pooser, of Jacksonville, Phyllis Janette Brown, of Winter Garden, Holly Baulier, of Auburndale, and Barbara Janette Pooser, of Yellowstone, MT.
"Being my age and still having your parents is a real blessing," said son Ned, 68. "I never tire of their stories of growing up in old Florida."
