A 46-year-old Apalachicola man was killed Wednesday morning, June 18 in a one-car accident along U.S. 98 west of Apalachicola.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Rond Lamar Furr was heading east on U.S. 98 about 8:05 a.m. in a 2000 Ford Ranger truck.

The truck traveled off the roadway into the south shoulder, and then overturned as it re-entered the roadway.

Furr, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck during the crash. Although ambulances were dispatched from Weems Memorial Hospital, Furr was pronounced dead at the scene.
