Car overturns on Bluff Road early Sunday morning
A 44-year-old Apalachicola man suffered injury early Sunday morning when his car overturned on Bluff Road, about 100 feet north of Squire Road.
According to a report by Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Scotty Lolley, Rodney Richards, 44, was driving a 1988 Chevrolet truck at about 12:01 a.m. when he exited the roadway on the right shoulder.
After overcorrecting, Richards’ truck then slid across the roadway before it exited the westbound shoulder and hit a ditch, and overturned multiple times before coming to a final rest.
Richards suffered back injuries, and was stable as he was transported by ambulance to Weems Memorial Hospital.
Lolley said Richards is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol is thought to have been a factor in the accident.
The accident is under investigation and charges are pending. Franklin County sheriff's deputies assisted on the scene.
