A rebuttal to the rebuttal

Dear Editor,

Let me begin by saying it is an admirable thing to do to protect/defend one's parent or parents.  For those of you who don't know the rebuttal to my first letter was written by Donna Gander Barber. That being said, there was nothing inaccurate about my "factual piece" in last weeks paper. The Athletic Director was another awful move on behalf of the current school administration, plain and simple. Call gulf County and se if they want him!!! I can also state firmly that after putting my hone number in the letter that I am not alone on that particular subject.

Now down to the new business at hand. I have been called a lot of things and trust me "Jackass" doesn't even scratch the surface, ask anyone that knows me. I am quite sure there was a little stronger language around a few of the old dinner tables last week, but be rest assured I didn't lose a wink of sleep. As far as me being uneducated and or ignorant, well we can let the readers decide. Here is a little education for you. The definition of ignorance: derived from the word ignore; the condition of knowing but refusing to take notice of it. Now doesn't that glass slipper fit another foot a little better? It's a little tight on me!

  Legacy of Jo Ann:

TH GRET UNIFIER, bringing the county together as one. Can we please get pat this CHS/AHS thing. You see a river where I and a great number of others just see a few bridges.

Three principals in approximately seven months!! That has got to be some kind of state records.

The lat poor fellow's medical condition was probably a nervous breakdown.

I wonder if Jo Ann ever sat in on one of those Construction Classes? Any contractor knows that you start with a good foundation. Maybe then some "Ole Jackass" wouldn't be able to knock it down so easily. The problem with your train of thought is that you think the children are the foundation. WRONG.. Strong leadership is the foundation and something that has been lacking for a long time. Our children are not there to lift you up, but instead you are there to make a solid decision that will lift them to their highest levels.

All of this is like the country during the great depression. Jo Ann is our President Hoover. Who will be our FDR? The Franklin County School Administration needs reform or in good ole "Two Mile" terms a good flushing out. Here is a challenge to our three candidates for Superintendent. Why don't each of you do a piece in the local papers on your opinions, ideas, or just how you feel about the whole consolidation process so far. I believe the community would love to hear what you have to say about it all. I believe it is safe to say you have our full attention.

School Board Members, don't you think for on minute you get a free pass. You bear just as much responsibility as Jo Ann. Your constituents spoke out and for the most part it fell on deaf ears. Whenever your recommendations to future superintendents are not taken whole heartedly-speak out loud and clear. Don't sit idly by worrying about rocking the boat-Sink it if you must. We, your constituents, will respect and support you 100%...You are our voice and that is why we elected you.

Let me set the record straight about my thoughts and feelings toward the school consolidation. I AM PRO CONSOLIDATION!! Wish it would have happened when I was in school. My beef is not with the consolidation but with the mismanagement of the consolidation an the utter lack of sufficient leadership. David Hinton said it best at the special school board meeting 9-25-08 : We have failed-I do not feel we have been successful". Finally, a leadership trait is trying to squeeze through the smoke screen of denial.. Please, whoever writes the next rebuttal, don't try t spin or twist my words. You can almost hear it now, "Mr. Amison thinks our kids, parents, and community are failures-You bad Jackass". All I'm saying is to be a good leader you have to be a good listener. Listen to your subordinates and by all means listen to your community.

Let me end with an old adage also, "You mess with the bull-you get the horns".

Ottice Amison
