Reward offered for stolen trash can

Poloronis Construction is offering a $100 reward for the safe return of a bear-proof trash can, intact, that was recently taken from the Ochlocknee Bay boat ramp. Owner Willie Poloronis is building a boat ramp and floating dock for the county, and was in the process of putting in four bear-proof cans when the apparent theft occurred.

“We noticed it gone two weeks ago, probably on July 12,” said Poloronis, noting that all four cans were in the process of being anchored in concrete after being delivered around July 4. “I hurried up and anchored them.”

Poloronis reported the theft of the $1,000 can, ordered from Bearsaver in California, to the sheriff’s office on July 28. “It was still wrapped up in plastic, right off the truck,” he said. “

If you have information on the theft, call Poloronis at 653-8167.
