Neal Deserves to Move Schools Forward
To the Editor,
I was extremely disappointed to read (The Times April 17, 2008) that Dr. Neal was not going to be rehired as principal of Franklin County School. I agree with Robert Davis' comments that changing leadership yet again is not in the best interest of the school system, community or the students.
Dr. Neal has successfully brought everyone through a year of change. Personally, I would like to see him continue this process as that's what change is: a process. This is a terrible time to bring in someone brand new. It's like building a building and bringing in a new contractor after the foundation work has begun. They'd have to reread the blueprints, learn about the crew (unless they brought their own), meet with the owners and learn about their wants and needs. All this takes significant time and money. Time and money that has already been spent once!
Franklin County is a unique and challenging place to learn about. After working for a year during an intense period of transition, Dr. Neal deserves, desires and is willing to continue to move FCS forward. To let him go when we have come this far under his leadership is ludicrous.
