Bert Millender

Charles Bertel Millender, 79, of Eastpoint, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Millender was born May 6, 1931 to the late Francis Marion and Willie Mae Millender in Carrabelle. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a sergeant during the Korean War, with the 2nd Division, 9th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, F Company.

He was a member of the Eastpoint Church of God. Mr. Millender loved to harvest oysters and fish, and worked hard to provide for his pride and joys, his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Molly Reeder Millender; sons Charles Keith Millender (Rita), Fred Anthony "Tony" Millender (Pamela S.), Travis Millender (Carmel), and Charles Pennycuff (Lina); his daughters, Delene King (Eugene) and Miranda Litton (Christopher), three brothers, Marion Millender, Fred C. Millender (Minnie), Howard Millender (Mary Nell); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday morning, Aug. 27 at the Eastpoint Church of God with Rev. Robert Kimberling and Rev. Robert Crum officiating. Interment followed in Eastpoint Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Mock, Danny Rose, Dewitt Polous, Larry Segree, Ronnie Segree, and Corey Shiver. The family received friends Thursday evening at the church.
