Let seniors vote on late Project Graduation arrivals
To the parents of the Graduating Class of 2011 and beyond: Let us get to the real deal.
Let our celebration begin, teaching is over, or so six graduating seniors and their guest thought. Why can’t we as adults exemplify compassion and consideration to the situation? One of these seniors was only five minutes late, others 20 minutes late, and one was an invited guest last year and witnessed late entry to the lock-in.
Here are more suggestions that can be considered prior for a successful night: Let the seniors vote to let those late in or not, and let the seniors select the penalty of removing kids from prize selections. It is, after all, their party. Also, never let the decision come down to a vote of the chairperson alone; let the majority rule.
The character of these kids to leave their families and friends and choose to stay with their lifetime classmates, speaks for itself. The premature and tragic end to their celebration does not make it a matter of discipline, yet a matter of excited, well-deserved kids just trying to be with their friends for the last time.
What transpired next has affected their confidence, yet does not make them victims, but clearly makes them the underdog. Parents, please consider these mishaps before next year.
