Kids & Cops Day Set for May 9th
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office "Kids & Cops Day" is just around the corner.
The fourth annual event will be held on Friday, May 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be at its usual location at the rear of the Sheriff's Office on US Highway 65.
All kids are invited to come out and enjoy the large display of law enforcement agencies, vehicles, and safety booths. The purpose of the event is to familiarize our county's youth with the various types of law enforcement and how they work together with other community resources to protect and serve our nation.
Sheriff Mike Mock started the annual event in 2005 and since then it has grown rapidly, with an attendance of over 1,000 kids and adults the past year.
"We expect even more this year," said Sgt. Ryan Sandoval, coordinator of the event. "The fun-filled day for the kids has been a huge success over the years and the kids always seem to look forward to it."
Money used to host the event is raised through community projects and donations to the Sheriff's Youth Fund.
