Kati Morgan Johnson, Ricky Hathcock exchange vows

Kati Morgan Johnson and Ricky Wayne Hathcock II were united May 14, 2010 in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Makapu’u Beach on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The backdrop for the wedding was the Pacific Ocean, and the rocky coast line.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darren Johnson, of Eastpoint. The groom is the son of Ricky Hathcock and Cindy Summerhill.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Karen Russ of Hawaii. During the service, the couple performed the traditional Hawaiian lei ceremony which includes the couple placing a lei around each other with ceremonial kisses on the cheeks. Also to add special meaning to the ceremony, sand from the beach of the wedding site was combined to signify the joining of their lives. The couple exchanged vows and rings.

The bride wore an A line gown with a sweetheart bodice and an empire waist. The gown and chapel length train had an overlay of lace trumpet with tulle. The overlay was adorned with detailed lace, beading and crystals. The chapel length veil was lace and tulle with crystal accents. For sentiment, the bride carried a mother of pearl Jerusalem bible carried by her mother in her wedding. The bible was brought from the Holy Land to her mother by the bride’s great grandmother, Grace Parrish. She wore her mother’s garter and carried her mother’s six pence brought from England by her great grandmother.

Parrish Johnson, sister of the bride, and Christian Hathcock, brother of the groom, served as witnesses for the couple. Chimene Johnson, mother of the bride, and Cindy Summerhill, mother of the groom, shared this special occasion with their children.

The couple honeymooned at Turtle Bay Resort on the island of Oahu and the Big Island, Hawaii. The couple now resides in Eastpoint.

A reception will be held for the couple on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010 at 5 p.m. on St. George Island. All family and friends are invited to attend.
