Islanders Don't Like Being Messed With
Islanders Don't Like Being Messed With
To the Editor:
St. George Island has been a Mecca for non-conformists, IRS evaders, pirates, strong women who love the beach, dog lovers who love the beach, men who love to drink on the beach, nature lovers and last but not least people who don't wanna be messed with. I fall into many of the above categories, especially "people who do not want to be messed with." I have lived and worked here for over 23 years and have never dealt with as many grumpy ole' men as I have in the last month! Do we need to add "Grumpy ole' men that cannot find another place to live except St. George Island" to the many categories?
Apparently, Journeys of SGI, Inc and Wild Women, Inc., our two companies, must be doing well because the grumpy ole' men want to close us down and make life miserable for our little corner of paradise. My question to the grumpy ole' men who are harassing Eddy Teach's Raw Bar and Journeys of SGI, Inc.: if you have this much time on your hands away from your business to make life miserable for our corner of paradise, then you are not taking enough time to run your own businesses? My mother always told me as a little girl "Sweep your own front porch and leave it to other to sweep their own."
If these grumpy ole' men had their way, there wouldn't be oyster bars, music, signs, boat trips, fishing trips, houses for rent, children in shops, dogs in shops or any other business that sold what they sell. What happened to the "American Way" of capitalism? I have one phrase to communicate to any further harassment - "Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house."
Please leave us alone!
