Sign Up for Sex Offender Alerts

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office in partnership with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Sheriffs Association and Florida Police Chiefs Association is encouraging residents to sign up to receive e-mail alert notifications to learn when a registered sexual offender or predator moves into their neighborhood or within a radius of any other designated location.

The new feature also allows citizens to track address changes reported by registered offenders or predators they select. Citizens can visit the sheriff's office Web site, www.franklinsheriff.com to sign up to begin receiving the alerts.

The new system was developed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement at the direction of the Florida Legislature as part of the state's compliance with the federal Adam Walsh Act. Citizens may select an unlimited number of addresses and/or offenders and predators to track, and can update their selections at anytime.

The alert system will send e-mail notifications within 24 to 48 hours of an address change to the state's registry.
Please visit www.franklinsheriff.com or www.fdle.state.fl.us to learn more about the new sex offender alert system. For more information contact the sheriff's office at 670-8500.
