Rumor is false about rudeness at funeral

I am writing this letter to correct a false rumor that is making the rounds in Lanark Village. It seems that there is a story going around that Cheryl Sanders was rude to a family member at my grandmother’s funeral.

I was standing with my cousin when Cheryl was leaving the visitation after spending time with the family telling stories and sharing reminiscences of my grandmother, of whom Cheryl was a favorite, when she was asked if she would be attending the funeral the next day. Cheryl stated that she was not, as she had a previous commitment, at which point my cousin said “Good, because I don’t want any politicking at my grandmother’s funeral.” Cheryl’s only reply was that she did not “politick” at funerals, and she left.

It should be noted here that Cheryl has known my grandmother, as well as other members of my family, for over 30 years and was welcomed by our family as a friend, which she is, not as a candidate. My cousin went after Cheryl to apologize for her comment; Cheryl left without responding.

I would like to point out that nothing negative was said or thought of Bill Snyder, who attended my grandmother’s funeral the next day, because although he did not know my grandmother, he is a close friend of my cousin’s and was there to support her.

I would like to personally thank Cheryl for not only coming and showing support to my family in our time of loss, but also for her removal of all campaign materials from her vehicle before she arrived at the church, which rendered her vehicle totally anonymous from any other in the lot.

I find it absolutely disgraceful that someone is trying to politicize my grandmother’s death, as there were only three people present at this conversation, I am sure that all of us will tell exactly the same version and put this extremely ugly rumor to rest.
