Vernon Thompson LTTE
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Thompson and Papadopoulos families; please allow me a few moments to express my sincere appreciation to the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and the Carrabelle City Police Department for an expedient recovery of my mother's golf cart.
Upon returning from work on the morning of Saturday, April 12, I discovered that my elderly mother's primary means of transportation was missing; she was totally devastated. I immediately notified the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and Carrabelle Police Department; each agency had personnel working the case within minutes.
Sheriff's Deputies Spence Massey, Kit Mashburn and Duane Cook, along with Carrabelle Officer Alvin Mitchell displayed genuine concern and superb police work in locating and recovering the stolen golf cart. These outstanding public servants didn't concentrate all of their efforts on an immediate apprehension; however, they utilized their experience, rapport and contacts within the community to recover several items stolen from various locations. I understand that a couple of arrests have been made in relation to the stolen property and the subjects are currently pending prosecution.
Due to the moral decadence of our society; death, dirt and misfortune oftentimes make the best selling stories. We're abundantly blessed with local law enforcement that make it their primary mission to help, protect and serve the citizens of their respective communities. Random and routine acts of kindness and consideration such as this rarely goes unnoticed; however, will oftentimes go unrecognized. That brings to mind an age old adage, "It's easy to ‘sit up' and take notice; however, it's difficult to ‘get up' and take action!"
Sheriff Mock and Police Chief Jetton have some dedicated and deserving personnel under their command; and these fine examples certainly need to be commended for their efforts.
Once again, thanks!
Sincerely,
Vernon Thompson, Carrabelle
