Cops intercept more than four ounces of hashish
On Sept. 9, members of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of the Tallahassee Police Department Narcotics Unit, intercepted a package containing 123.7 grams, or a little more than four ounces, of hashish, destined for delivery, in the area of Franklin County.
Investigators with the narcotics unit of the sheriff’s office said the package had been sent from California, and a K-9 alerted authorities after a sniff of mailed materials in Tallahassee. Officers from the sheriff’s office, and Carrabelle Police Department, then made the controlled delivery to an Eastpoint address, which led to the boat, located at the Ten Foot Hole in Apalachicola.
The subject arrested was identified as Michael Coolidge Shannon; 61, who was living on the boat at the time. Shannon was charged with possession of a controlled substance (more than 20 grams), and transported to the Franklin County Detention Facility.
Street value of the drugs is estimated at $2,000. Case is still undergoing investigation, for further charges and possible future arrests.
