Eastpoint man leaves scene after Sunday night accident
A 33-year-old Eastpoint man was arrested at his home Sunday night after he left on foot from an accident.
According to a report by Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Scotty Lolley, Michael Eugene Boone was driving a 1994 Nissan westbound on Ave. A in Eastpoint at about 10:08 p.m. on Sunday night.
As Boone approached the intersection of Old Ferry Dock Road, he failed to stop at a stop sign while making a left turn, Lolley reported. Boone’s vehicle then exited on to the west shoulder, entered a ditch, and collided with a fire hydrant and a fence.
Lolley said Boone left the scene on foot and was later arrested at his home in Eastpoint.
No injuries were reported, and Boone was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol - with property damage, and multiple other misdemeanor charges.
Franklin County sheriff's deputies assisted in the investigation.
