Bonding Policy Needs to be Changed
To the Editor:
Well, here it is, 2007. Want the latest poop? Lanark Village water and sewer, still in business, charging an inflated price of $48 per month for service. It breaks down to $24 for water that they admit gives you cancer, so you can't drink it or even get your other mucus membranes down in it. With five people in my house plus visitors, I have to pay $6 to $9 per week for drinking water and only take a shower. Which brings us to $24 for sewer to take this nasty water away, not fit to poop in. Huh?
I, among many others in this county, have worked all these years to accumulate retirement income, now being forced to try and sell it to pay the outrageous tax increases. That is bad enough. Then they tell you this property can not be used to bond out of jail. I might not need this, but have needed it for others. The sheriff puts the blame on the tax collector, tax collector says it's the sheriff's policy. They tell me, too much paperwork involved. I don't give a d--n. That's why I'm paying all these taxes. Do these bonding companies have some kind of hold here somewhere? Surrounding counties still do it. It is not fair to make some older or poor people fork out their savings to some bonding company when they have to bond out a kid or grandkid. This needs to be stopped.
