Tommy Womack concert tonight



Singer-songwriter Tommy Womack performs an intimate house concert 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 16 at 111 Water Street, Apalachicola. The concert is to raise money and awareness for the non-profit Franklin County Community Development & Land Trust Corporation. Randall “Big Daddy” Webster opens the show.



Tickets are $15 or $25 per couple, and available at the law offices of Steve Watkins, 41 Commerce Street, Apalachicola 653-1949 and The Butler Agency, 135 US 98, Eastpoint 670-1200. Audience members are encouraged to bring snacks so everyone can graze on each other’s fixings. Bring your own beverages!



 



Dixie presents exciting weekend



The Dixie Theatre in Apalachicola has a full slate of performances this weekend, beginning with Grammy-nominated Nashville singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters on Friday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. Her warm-honey voice and sophisticated lyrics assures an evening like no other.



On Saturday at 3 p.m., “The Old Folkie” Ken Sizemore returns for his 20th appearance at the Dixie with his easy style and wit, performing original tunes and classic favorites from the ‘50's, ‘60s and ‘70s. At 8 p.m. Saturday, Tony Sands makes his Dixie debut with “It Was A Very Good Year,” an uncanny portrayal of old blues eyes Frank Sinatra that takes the audience on a musical tribute journey that includes stunning video and graphics.

Oyster cook off takes off Saturday 



The fourth annual Oyster Cook-Off to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department will be at noon this Saturday, Jan. 18 at Riverfront Park.
