Top-ranked Blountstown stayed unbeaten with a 49-0 rout to spoil Franklin County’s homecoming Friday night at Mikel Clark Stadium.



The Tigers improved to 7-0 in the nondistrict Class 1A game. The Seahawks dipped to 0-6 in the matchup of former District 4-1A opponents.



Fabian Solomon gained 111 yards and scored twice on only five carries for Blountstown. He rushed for scores of 2 and 64 yards in the first quarter in staking the Tigers to a 28-0 lead after 12 minutes.



Alex Mayorga and Lonnie Perez each scored first-half rushing touchdowns, Corin Peterson returned a punt 42 yards for a score and Hunter Jordan tossed a TD to Tanner Peacock in building a 42-0 halftime advantage.



Trey Matthews returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown to cap the scoring in the third quarter. Matthews and nine other Blountstown ball carriers racked up 246 yards on the ground. Jordan passed for 56.



Trenton Lee led Franklin County with 14 carries for 25yards rushing. The Seahawks gained 60 yards as a team, all coming on the ground. Logan McLeod was 0 for 8 passing.



Cole Wheeler had two kickoff returns for a total of 46 yards. Alex Causey and Wheeler each had seven tackles.



“I thought it was a good opportunity for our boys to see the level at which we want to get to. They are number one in the state and it is our goal, one day we will be sitting in their spot,” said coach Aaron York. “Blountstown is a good ball club. Once again, the coaching staff is stressing that we get better each and every day.”



At halftime, Haleigh Ming was crowned homecoming queen, as one of five senior girls, Deborah Dempsey, Marlyn Lee, , Adriana Reeder and Jessica Shields – to grace the court. Alex Causey was homecoming king, with the four other seniors including Kyle Hathcox, Leonard Ward, Cameron White, and Mercury Wynn.



The court consisted also of freshmen Chelsea Register and Thomas Copley-Subbarao; sophomores Jaylynn Lyston, Anna Riley, River Banks, and Dallas Shiver; and juniors Zoie Lance, Erin Riley, Kelsey Shuler, Austin Carter, Chandler White, and Brandon Cash.



Franklin County is at West Gadsden Friday in a 4-1A contest..
