Caitlin's third annual beach cleanup was a huge success!

About 25 volunteers participated in the cleanup and collected approximately 300 pounds of trash.  This is great news because last year volunteers collected nearly 450 pounds of trash. This shows that visitors and residents are taking more initiative in their efforts to keep the beach clean.

Most of the items collected were typical cans, bottles, cigarette butts, plastic cups, and bottle caps. There were fewer pop up tents and frames as we have in years past.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help. Also thank you to the local stores for advertising the event, as well as Lois Swoboda from The Times, Michael Allen from WOYS, and Commissioner Pinki Jackel for arranging to have the trash hauled away. We appreciate Sometimes It's Hotter for hosting the event and offering refreshments for the volunteers. I will be back next year to visit my favorite beach!
