Mr. Charles “Shorty” Lamar Hardy, Sr., 71, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at his residence in Apalachicola.
Shorty was born Aug. 3, 1942 in Walton County to Sheppard and Mary Lou Hardy. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apalachicola. Shorty was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheppard and Mary Lou Hardy; stepmother, Viola Hardy; sister Mary Dean; sister Mary Dean; and three brothers: Sheppard Love Hardy, Monroe Hardy, and Earel Hardy.
Mr. Hardy is survived by wife of 34 years, Linda G. Hardy; six children: Charles Lamar Hardy, Jr., Michelle Ferdinand, Patricia Nanette Mayo and husband Wayne, Tammy Taunton and husband Charles, Penny Hardy, and Susan Jones and husband Dennis; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ezra Hardy and wife, Judy; and Leo Hardy and wife, Nancy; one sister, Rosette Calhoun and husband, Hurbert; and two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Hardy and Boots Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Apalachicola with Emery and Susan Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 15 at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Southerland Family Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
