Memorial Day service in Apalachicola



Veterans and families are welcome to come to a Memorial Day service, followed by a low country boil at the Three Servicemen Detail Park, at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, sponsored by American Legion Post 106.



 



Crooked River offers ‘coastal blessing’ Sunday



Every Sunday of Memorial Day weekend the Crooked River Lighthouse invites Carrabelle clergy to climb the lighthouse tower and bestow a blessing and present a plea for a safe hurricane season. The fourth annual Coastal Blessing is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 and will feature Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony over the tops of the pines. Preachers and priests are given up to five minutes each to share prayer. Refreshments follow. Kayak Demo Days Saturday



On Saturday, May 25 test paddle or pedal some of the top kayak or stand up paddleboard brands in the industry including Perception, Wilderness and Hobie paddle and hands free Mirage Drive kayaks and BIC, Hobie and Surftech Stand Up Paddle Boards at the boat basin across from Harry A’s on St. George Island. For information call 927-2604 or 927-3259.



 



Captain Jack fishing tournament Saturday



The 2013 Captain Jack Offshore/Inshore tournament will be Saturday, May 25 at the Alligator Point Fire Station. Proceeds go to the Capital Area Chapter Red Cross and the Alligator Point/St. Teresa Fire Station. Email captainjacktournament@gmail.com for info or call (850) 528-6394.
