A terrible grief swept over Franklin County Tuesday afternoon after a 1-year-old child was killed in an Eastpoint collision.

According to a report prepared by Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Paul Azrak, Kelly Shiver was struck and killed about 3:45 p.m. on Russell Road, east of First Street.

The child is the son of Brittney and Allen Shiver, and grandson of Louise Shiver and Lisa Sellers.

Jessica Lee Davis, 25, of Eastpoint, was backing a 2004 GMC Sierra out of a private driveway when Shiver walked behind the vehicle’s right front tire, according to the trooper’s report.

“The driver failed to notice the pedestrian and in turn struck him,” it read.

Emergency responders struggled to revive the child, who was taken to Weems Memorial Hospital where he died. Kelly Funeral Home transported the infant to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital morgue.

Neither Davis, nor her passenger, Jason P. James, 32, of Eastpoint, was injured. Both were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol is not considered to have been involved in the accident, read the report.
