On Saturday, April 6, volunteers from the Apalachee Audubon Chapter, Boy Scouts of America Troop 220, city of Carrabelle, Leon County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Sea Oats Garden Club joined together to rehab native plant gardens, blaze trails, and conduct a gopher tortoise survey. The group of 14 accomplished much with a total of 35.1 volunteer hours. Thanks to all of these hard workers. Plus it was a gorgeous day to be in the woods. Lots of wildflowers blooming and a swallow-tailed kite soared above the treetops. Patton Park has restrooms, a picnic pavilion, and hiking trails with interpretive signs. If you are interested in volunteering at Patton Park, please call Lesley Cox at 697-5555.
